APOCALYPTICA's EICCA Talks About Upcoming 'Best Of' CD
April 21, 2006APOCALYPTICA's official web site has been updated with an interview with the band's Eicca about the group's upcoming 10-year anniversary "best of" CD and DVD, "Amplified - A Decade of Reinventing the Cello", due on May 26. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
Q: Is this new release going to be released through the new label and will it be available in the U.S. and U.K.?
Eicca: "Universal Music is the distributor for this compilation world-wide, but as happen before I think U.K. and U.S. will pass [on] it. That would then mean that we will release it through our new deal. DVD will be released by Sony/BMG excluding Germany, Austria, Switzerland, as they are controlled by Universal. So U.K. and U.S. are not confirmed BUT it looks like they will be released there anyhow. (Might just take few months longer...)"
Q: When were the tracks with Max Cavalera [SOULFLY] and Matt Tuck [BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE] recorded? When did you find the time to do them?
Eicca: "Tracks were recorded beginning of March. Finding good timing for it was really a project... they both were on tour so it was not possible to get them to same studio (Max was recorded in Munich and Matt in Amsterdam) we had to choose cities based on their tour schedule."
Q: Did you record with Max and Matt or were the tracks recorded without meeting them? Was the BULLET track recorded with the U.K. market in mind?
Eicca: "I was on both vocal recordings and producing them. We also prepared the song via phone and e-mail. We've been in touch with Matt for longer time and it was natural to work together as we are also on the same label nowadays... Of course, we are very keen on getting our foot on U.K. market but obviously that was not the reason to work with BULLET."
